Long before the housing development and the shopping centers, Northampton Township was a community of farmers, with the village of Richboro as its hub. The potential for property loss or death from fire was low. Even so, a group of concerned residents gathered in 1914 to charter a fire company to serve the township. They called it the Richboro Fire Company No. 1. One hundred years later, the Company has grown into the Northampton Fire Department that serves a population of over 40,000 people. Today, the company responds to 1000 Fire, Rescue and EMS calls a year.

Our minimum age requirement is 16 (members under the age of 18 require parental consent and must abide by child labor laws). Members and staff, along with multiple other agencies were invited by Southampton Fire Company No. 1 to train in acquired structures on the old Bethana property. Using smoke machines, having the ability to train in an unfamiliar building in near zero visibility allows firefighters to hone orientation and search skills using senses other than site, among many other skills, and we are thankful for the opportunity. Many thanks to our good friends at Station 2!
D Platoon with Tanker and Field 3 helping out Northampton Parks and Rec yesterday filling the dunk tanks for Camp Carnival! Also yesterday morning, Engine 73 responded with Lower Southampton Fire Dept on Box 6-3 for a report of a residential structure fire. A faulty hot water heater was located and secured and units were available a short time later.
Another camp visit! C Platoon stopped by Friend City summer camp yesterday to keep things cool!
Monday, the A Platoon was out performing pump training, aerial training, and station tours for Girl Scout Troop 265, while responding to numerous calls for service. Company drill Monday night was spent performing boat operations with members and staff.
Yesterday, B platoon visited one of the Township’s Summer Camps and helped cool off the campers! The B also spent time conducting NFPA 1410 drills, a requirement to be a qualified engine driver/operator.
